Here's the bit about Jesse Cronin, Humming Wheel Potter...

        Jesse Cronin talking about himself.
My family and I are new to Vermont, and we love it. Our house looks out over 150 acres of someone else's field, we can walk to a bakery, and we're members of a Community Supported Farm that sells some of the most absolutely enormous tomatoes I've ever seen. Like they're dangerous, that's how big they are.

My wife and I had both grown up sandwiching Vermont- she in New York, myself in New Hampshire. We are both teachers by profession, and have taught all over the place- she in Baton Rouge, me in Boston, together in Brooklyn, and then overseas to Austria. Living overseas was great, and allowed us to go places we never would have gone otherwise (seriously, getting to Italy was as much hassle as driving from NYC to Jersey). But we missed torillia chips too much, and it was time to come home- so here we are, back stateside,  newbies to Vermont.

I'm an artist by training and inclination, though, so when we bought our house here one of the first things was to create a workspace inside of it. I've got my shop equipment, my potters wheel, my framing stuff- I'm ready to go. And very excited about it- I haven't had a real studio space in forever.

And better yet, we've made the decision to see if I can make a living off of this work (on a related note, the Etsy shop is here)- I'm no longer teaching, and will be in the studio half-time. The rest of the time will be with my kids, so I really can't think of anything better I could be doing with myself.

That's all this blog is, really, just an excuse to chronicle and talk about the work that I'm doing (ceramics), what I'm making (bowls and sinks and everything else except plates), how it's going (better, thanks for asking), and what I'm going to do with it (clutter up my shelves). It's super ego-centric, but so what? I'm enjoying myself here, and at the very least, I know my mom likes to see what I'm up to.

So that's that. We'll see what we get here- maybe some pottery work, maybe some beer brewing, maybe some home-crafted sauces or syrups. We will just have to find out.
